Mostly due to NO ONE having Chrysler Blue readily available.
So I got the block sprayed:
Laid some Wrinkle Black on the valve covers ( it was still very wet here ):
Once that had all dried, we set into putting it back together:
Cylinders cleaned right up with a quick hone, then we got the bottom end back together. Waiting on cam break in/assembly lube to get the cam and lifters back in, so progress will wait til next week.

Funny, there’s a YouTube channel called Dylan McCool where he just painted the 5.7 hemi he’s putting in a 71 Challenger he’s building Chrysler blue so it would kind of resemble the original 318. He probably ordered it.

W on’ t the bores and pistons get surface rust waiting a week to button everything up?
Also, I’m glad you listen to me and went with Hemi Orange because I’m absolutely certain I’m th e only one who suggested it.

Well the pistons are aluminum, so I hope they don’t rust.......
Everything has a healthy dose of assembly lube, so it shouldn’t be an issue.

I’ve always assumed most of the rotating assembly was a s a steel alloy of some sort but yeah, aluminium does make sense.

Pistons and rods are aluminum.
Everything else is cast iron to my knowledge.
I used a combo of assembly lube and this stuff:
To combat rust and corrosion until I can get it together.
